Michael Scott Townsend of Butte, age 42, passed away on July 31, 2025 at 4:46 PM at Providence Hospital in Missoula, Montana surrounded by family. He was born on April 28, 1983, in Butte, Montana, the beloved son of Scott Townsend and Rhonda Carlson. Michael's zest for life was evident in his many passions. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, working on cars, listening to loud music, playing pool, throwing darts, playing softball, and indulging in good times. He was loyal to a fault and very protective of the people he considered to be friends and family and was always willing to help someone in need even if it meant giving the shirt off his back. Professionally, Michael excelled as a Diesel Mechanic at Western States Truck Service, showcasing his expertise and dedication in his work. Michael was preceded in death by his father Scott Townsend, his brother Anthony Leon Jarvis, and his cherished friend and mentor, Jim Ranke, and his son Jack along with numerous friends and family members. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by his mother, Rhonda Townsend, brothers Adrian Jarvis, William Jarvis, Christian Jarvis, sisters Theresa Cortez, July Jarvis, Georgia Townsend, his ex-wife and friend Denisha Townsend, his devoted life partner and girlfriend Holli Bates. His celebration of life will be at Basin Creek Reservoir August 23rd at 1pm. His mother has asked that nobody bring. alcohol to this gathering out of respect for the Morman members of of the family.
