A pioneering Black golfer, Jim Dent, tragically passed away at 85. He became a pro golfer who broke through to the PGA in the times when Black golfers were often unwelcome and thus rare. The reason for his unfortunate demise is reported to be due to complications from a stroke. He grew up near the famous Augusta Country Club, home of the Masters Tournament.
