James Pawnell September 18, 1992 - August 31, 2024 ST LOUIS, MO - James Pawnell, a beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on August 31, 2024, at the young age of 31. Born on September 18, 1992, in Centreville, IL, James touched the lives of those around him with his warm smile, kind heart, and zest for life. Growing up in the tight-knit community of Centreville, James was a shining light among his peers. He attended East St Louis Senior High, where he thrived academically and developed lasting friendships. James was not only known for his intellect but also for his love of sports, particularly basketball. On any given day, you could find him on the court, honing his skills and challenging his opponents with fierce determination. James was a devout member of Mt Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith guided his actions and inspired those around him. His spirituality was a cornerstone in his life, providing him with solace and strength during challenging times. James found great joy and fulfillment in attending church services, connecting with his fellow parishioners, and participating in various religious activities. Outside of his academic and religious pursuits, James cherished his time spent with family and friends. He had a special bond with his father, Carlos Pawnell, and his mother, Shelly Richardson. Their love and support were instrumental in shaping the remarkable individual James became. James also shared a close-knit relationship with his sister, Carlisa Pawnell, and his brother, Carlos Pawnell Jr. Together, they created countless memories filled with laughter, love, and shared experiences. James had an infectious personality that drew people towards him effortlessly. His friends were his extended family, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Whether they were hanging out, engaging in lively conversations, or simply enjoying each other's company, James thrived in the presence of his friends. James is survived by his loving parents, Carlos Pawnell and Shelly Richardson, his devoted sister Carlisa Pawnell, and his brother Carlos Pawnell Jr, who resides in Alatna, AK. He is also preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Ella Mae Richardson and Nathaniel Richardson. The loss of James Pawnell leaves a void that cannot be filled. His genuine spirit, his unwavering loyalty, and his contagious laughter will forever be remembered by all those fortunate enough to have known him. Though his time with us was cut short, the impact he had on our lives will be everlasting. A private memorial service to honor James's life will be held on a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Mt Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in memory of James. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire and touch the lives of those who were blessed to have known him.
