Terry Brunk, known to wrestling fans as Sabu, has passed away at the age of 60. He blazed a trail through the industry in the mid-late '90s, becoming one of the brightest stars of the independent scene in both Japan and the United States. Sabu wore the wounds of war across his torso from many barbed wire bouts; he fought through chairs, tables, flames, and almost anything he, his fans in attendance, and even opponents could get their hands on. He got recognition with ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling), where his risk-heavy style and arguments with Taz and Rob Van Dam made him a standout figure. His work in that era has been hugely credited with shaping the modern hardcore wrestling scene. Sabu also had time-to-time stints with WWE and WCW during his career. During the time of tape trading, long before the dawn of social media and YouTube, his matches were the stuff of legend. Throughout the wrestling world, tributes came in droves from ECW originals who shared rings and locker rings with him, along with tributes from the people who were touched by his work. More than 3 weeks after his retirement match, he left the world, just like he left the rings.
